Looking for a quick way to make a meal or even just a snack? House too hot to use the oven? I have an easy and quicker way to make deliciousness.
This Instant Pot Vortex air fryer works great for so many things. I was skeptical at first but I have loved everything I have made in it. It is so easy to use with the touchscreen buttons and a dial to go up or down for the temp and time.
You can Air Fry, which is what I use the most. Roast, Broil, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate. Honestly, I haven’t experimented yet with anything other than Air Fry and Reheat. I LOVE the reheat option for leftovers like pizza or restaurant food, it will warm it up without cooking it too much. I have used this option for leftover fried chicken and it tasted just as good as it being freshly fried at the restaurant.
To use the Air Fry option:
Hit the Air Fry button
Press Temp and turn the dial to the desired temp.
Hit Time and turn the dial to the desired time.
Press Start. The Air Fryer will preheat for approximately 2 minutes.
When the Air Fryer beeps and the screen says ‘Add Food’, open the basket and add food. Replace basket. The Air Fryer will start back up and start counting down.
About halfway through the Air Fryer will beep and the screen will say ‘Turn Food’, open basket, turn food and replace basket.
When the cooking time is done the Air Fryer will beep and screen will say ‘End’. Open basket and carefully remove food.
Here are some tips I found that have helped me enjoy this air fryer more:
DO NOT use aerosol oil spray. This type of sprayer will stick to the basket and NOT come clean very well.
I found that these oil spray bottles work the best. Just simply fill with your favorite oil, mine is olive oil. Spray the food NOT the basket or rack.
If the item you are cooking doesn’t have air fryer instructions, I have found that reducing the temp down by 25°-50° from the oven temp but the time tends to be about the same.
When cooking an item for the first time be sure to keep an eye on it to understand how it cooks. Frozen versus thawed will make a difference too.
If you prefer not to have to clean you air fryer often use these liners to fast, easy clean up. My teenager step-son uses these so he doesn’t have to clean the basket.
Here are a list of things I make on a regular basis in my air fryer:
Roasted Broccoli - This is my family’s favorite. I get fresh broccoli crowns, usually from Aldi, chop into small florets. Toss with some olive oil and salt. Cook broccoli at 400° for 6-7 minutes (depending on how crispy you want it). Pull the basket out every 2 minutes or so and give the broccoli a little shake.
Diced Potatoes - I like russet potatoes for this recipe. Wash, peel, and dice potatoes into 1 inch cubes. Toss with olive oil, salt, and seasoning of your choice. I change it up, sometimes garlic powder, sometimes onion powder, and sometimes even some thyme!!! Cook at 400° for 12-13 minutes. Be sure to toss the basket every once in a while.
Chicken Nuggets - We love the chicken nuggets from Costco. 385° for 12 minutes, turn halfway through.
Fish Sticks - We love the fish sticks from Sam’s Club. 400° for 12 minutes, turn halfway through.
Sausage Links - Not sure about you but I have to have my sausage links browned. I love the sausage links from Costco. Pop them in the air fryer at 385° for 6 minutes, turning halfway through.
Hashbrown Patties - We love the frozen hashbrown patties from Aldi. I spray both sides with olive oil and cook at 385° for 12 minutes, turning halfway through.
I LOVE this magnet to use as my air fryer cheat sheet. The times and temps are pretty accurate, however, air fryers can vary. If you are looking to cook more of a variety in your air fryer this magnet booklet would be your go to.
