Cooking outside is great during the summer for any occasion whether for entertaining or just for yourself. Let me tell you about the cooking appliance we LOVE to use.

During the summer months, which isn’t too long here in the midwest, we LOVE using our Blackstone Griddle. When I say “we” I mean my husband makes the food that I have planned for him to make. I let him use the appliances outside like the griddle and the grill, however, the smoker is MINE!

My husband typically makes Saturday morning breakfast on the griddle which consists of egg, hashbrowns, bacon, sometimes sausage, and every once in a while french toast or pancakes.

This Blackstone Griddle is so easy to use and doesn’t take up any more patio or deck space than I typical grill would. We have had this griddle for 4 years now and couldn’t be more pleased with it. Over the years we have found some great accessories to get for this griddle which have been so helpful. Here is what we use and LOVE:

  • Attached Lid - Our griddle did not come with a lid and after a few years without it we decided it would be nice to have one. I searched Amazon to find this lid that fit perfectly and so easy to install. It was a father’s day present for my husband! But again if you need to go with the 36” griddle there is this lid available. I did some additional research and found this lid that has a window so you can see the food as it cooks!

  • Tool Set - For cooking on the griddle you will need a few longer spatulas, a scraper, and a bottle for water and a bottle for oil.

  • Scooper - When cooking things like fried rice or scrambled eggs this scooper comes in handy!

  • Dome - This dome works great when needing to cover food to help cook faster or to melt some cheese on stuff.

  • Griddle Caddy - When cooking on the griddle you will need bottles for oil and water, salt and pepper, and maybe even a place to put your drink! This Griddle Caddy fits our need perfectly.

  • Wind Guards - Here in the midwest the wind NEVER stops. We have found that these wind guards work amazingly to prevent the wind from blowing out the burners.

  • Extra grease trap liners - When we cook on our griddle regularly during the summer we have to replace the grease trap liner at least once a week, more if we do burgers or extra greasy foods. We have lots of these liners on hand all the time.

Like I mentioned previously, I let my husband do the griddle cooking given his 20+ years of experience in cooking in resturants with griddles. Plus, when I want an evening off from cooking I usually send him outside to make what I tell him to!! What an amazing man!

Here are some of the things my husband has made on the griddle:

  • Fried Rice - shrimp, chicken, vegetable. This works great with leftover rice.

  • Smash Burgers - good but not our favorite

  • Eggs - scrambled, fried. Possibilities are endless

  • Bacon - Need I say more!

  • Hashbrowns - The griddle is probably the BEST way I like hashbrowns cooked.

  • Sitr Fry - Cook the meat, such as chopped chicken or thinnly sliced steak pieces, then throw on veggies of your liking. Toss with some sitr fry sauce, we typically just buy the jarred stuff from the store.

  • Quesadillas - We love to do build-your-own quesadillas. Everyone gets to choose the ingredients they want in them and they can all be cooked at the same time!

  • French toast and pancakes - Can’t go wrong with them.

  • Grilled cheeses - We like all different kinds of cheeses in our grilled cheeses, even throw some sliced deli meat in them. Again, they can all be cooked at the same time so everyone gets to eat at the same time.
